Calendar Exhibition Details

More news about the Calendar Exhibition;

The dropoff date will be April 17 from 9:30 am to 9 pm.
Public exhibition (and voting) will be from April 18 to the 25 during the mall hours.
Pickup date will be April 26.

We will be exhibiting in the old Blue Jeans store situated at the top of the escalator on the right hand side. This is a large store with lots of hanging possibilities! This is an excellent venue to have your work viewed as we were told that on average, they have 68,000 to 71,000 people a week come to the Square. That’s really good exposure!

You may enter as many pieces as you wish. There is a $5 entry fee for each piece entered. You must be a member to enter. (If you're not a member, now is a great time to join!) Since the calendar is limited to twelve months, each member may only have ONE entry in the calendar. If several pieces of yours were to win the highest votes, only the one with the highest number of votes would be put on the calendar and the others would receive an honourable mention. Then, the next qualifying artist would be put on the calendar. All members that enter work that is not part of the top 12 chosen will have honourable mention on the back cover of the calendar.

Hooks will be provided but ALL paintings MUST be ready to hang with wire across the back. (Hooks on the back of your painting will not be accepted - there must be wire to easily and safely hang paintings on the walls.)

The format for this calendar will be the same as the format we've used in previous years (NOT last year's format). To be considered for the calendar, a landscape format is required. Otherwise there is just too much white space on the pages. So try to use a ration of 1:1.5. (i.e. it should be 1.5 times wider than it is high.)

Any sculpture/ mixed media must be of reasonable size for the venue. Work that requires a "pedestal" mount will be the responsibility of the artist and must also be of reasonable size for the venue.

Because this will be a "general public" show representing Focus Art, all work is subject to scrutiny for offensive content. Racist, Sexist, Obscene or Pornographic subject matter will not be tolerated regardless of "artistic licence" and can be rejected on those grounds

Each person may vote once. Any duplicate votes will be disqualified. Members may also vote once.

Alan Bain is donating one of his beautiful paintings as a prize. All voters (members and the public) are eligible for this draw. Many thanks to Alan for his generosity.

During mall hours / exhibition hours, we will have at least two members of Focus Art in the store at all times watching over the venue and to act as ambassadors of Focus Art to promote our group. Please volunteer your time for this. It doesn't have to be a full day - all we need is a few hours at best if everyone was to help out in this respect. Contact D’Arcy Thorpe at your earliest convenience to give him possible hours you can volunteer. You may 'sit' with a friend if you wish. Just let us know the times.

You must have your own insurance on your work if you so desire. Focus Art is not responsible for your artwork.

This is important - absolutely NO sales may be made during the exhibition and / or on the premises. This must be strictly adhered to. If any sales were to be made, we would then have to pay Cornwall Square rent and commissions. As it is, Cornwall Square is donating this space to us for exhibition purposes only. If you have any sales interest in your work, you can sell it OFF the premises. Artists exhibiting can leave contact information at the venue for sale purposes at another time and place after the exhibit.

On Saturday the 25th of April, all winners will be photographed.

I think I've included all the rules discussed at the meeting. If anyone has any more to add, please contact me and I'll post them here immediately.

Thanks,

Deb
